Final Project

Treatment: The working title for my final project is Big Brave DogBig Brave Dog is a story based on my real-life little peekapoo dog, Bella.  In this animation Bella is a talking dog with an underbite that loves her huge soccer ball that is left outside in the front yard.  From inside she stares out the window keeping guard of her ball when suddenly a vicious demon rabbit intruder hops along and stares at her ball.  Feeling threatened, the story then changes to Bella’s attempt to escaping from the house when her brilliant, yet disgusting plan is to use the bathroom on the floor.  She succeeds in getting out and running the demon rabbit off, but is left an unpleasant surprise from the rabbit surrounding her ball.
I want the characters in the story to have this kawaii Hello Kitty-esque vibe to them.  It will be done in Photoshop and they will be solid with a drop shadow behind them.  For the background I plan to scan in different materials and textures to fill in the sky, house, grass, ball… everything besides the characters.  I want it to have a very playful child-like look to it with scatological humor.

Schedule:
  • March 16-25: Background Outline and Scanned Fill-Ins
  • March 25-29: Create Characters and Animated
  • March 29-April 12: Sound Effects
  • April 12-25: Voice Acting Recording/Background Track
  • April 25-May 2: Tune Details

"His body began to squirm with fright and he plopped down and started to turn into a worm."

First Frame

The figures body will be complete white and his accessories will be pink and the background will be solid in the first frame.  In between each frame following I will insert this Tetris image (below) to fill the background, and in every other frame I will invert it as his life is spiraling downwards as he turns into a worm.

Rotoscope Project: The Beginning Stage

"His body began to squirm with fright and he plopped down and started to turn into a worm."
This is my very animated actor, Josh playing the role of Jeremy.  Thanks Josh for your awesome help and acting!

For the background I envisioned a tetris layout, and from this I want it to rapidly flicker back in forth from color to it's inverted color as if it were representing this chaotic terror of worm transformation.  Because there is going to be a lot of movement from the actor's transformation I want to keep the figure solid and rather simple and use detail though facial outlines for emphasis of the expression of fright.  Jeremy's (Josh) shirt will be pink as he eventually turns into a pink worm with a head sweatband on.

Here is a shot of Josh acting as if were a frightened and confused worm who just plopped down.

The backgrounf is suppose to be inverted negative color and this is Jeremy (Josh) as a worm.  I want to keep the same facial expression of a human to the worm figure.

I have started doing my outline, but I'm still foreign to my tablet, so I'm getting use to using it and have made acquaintances with the "Step Backwards" keys. Progress!
